Crash Data Retrieval Tool Applications for the Insurance Professional – Part 1

The core course addresses the “how to use the CDR Tool” component with lecture and direct hands-on activities focusing on in-car data retrieval. Examples of claims applications are then offered to illustrate the number and type of claims scenarios in which CDR Tool retrieved data might be used. Finally, data retrieved by those in attendance is used to evaluate how that data might have been useful in the claims process. This is not the same as a 5 day Data Analyst Course nor is it a substitute for that course, this is focused on the function of the DLC kit and then basic data evaluation in the context of claims investigations.

This unique three day core Crash Data Retrieval Tool Applications course has already been offered literally coast-to-coast to insurance professionals working in claims investigation roles with companies both large and small. Universally, a review of the results have demonstrated the value of CDR Tool data when properly applied.  Beyond the core training, extended and follow-on support is a part of Collision Safety Institute’s dedication to our end user’s success.

In addition to open enrollment courses sponsored by the Crash Data Group at their facility, the standard three day core training program is available at your location for your to your team as they begin to use the CDR Tool in the claims process. Crash Data Retrieval Tool Applications for the Insurance Professional – Part 2

For those how have completed the initial hands-on Crash Data Retrieval Tool Applications for the Insurance Professional – Part 1 course, this is the natural follow up focused on the reading and evaluation of reports generated by the Bosch CDR Tool in the context of a claims investigation.

Where the “Part 1” class covers the hands-on retrieval of data and the basics of the CDR Tool report layout, this course uses actual claims examples, data from crash tests and selected training scenarios to expose the insurance professional to the wide variety of data sets they may encounter and offers techniques for better management of the data within a claims investigation and evaluation setting.   Relying on several years of questions and answers from insurance professionals using the CDR Tool and direct civil case experience, the layout of this class addresses topics and issues the SIU or management professional will encounter in the field when applying CDR Tool retrieved data to a claim including identifying the differences between data sets offered by different auto manufacturers, finding the connected data elements in a report and looking for exceptions and anomalies as well as making the decision on when to engage a vendor reconstructionist and then effective management of the scope of that individual’s involvement.

Once a skilled investigator has been using the CDR Tool for any length of time, they have surely come to realize there’s “more to it” and they’d “like more practice” reading the reports…this is an opportunity to do just that in a format comfortably familiar to SIU investigators and managers.
